Butanol (butyl alcohol)
n-Butanol (also known as normal butanol and n-butyl alcohol) is a primary alcohol with the molecular formula C4H10O. It is a colorless liquid of moderate volatility with a characteristic banana odor. n-butanol is limitedly miscible with water; however, it easily dissolves in common solvents such as ethers, alcohols, glycols, and hydrocarbons. This solvent is highly flammable, with a flash point of about 35°C.
